About The Patriotic Concert
The Patriotic Concert is one of The Badger Chordhawks’ core productions.
The purpose is to (i) bring our community together, (ii) with music as the medium, reignite our shared patriotism, and (iii) raise money for our local heroes.
Since 2019 alone, the Concert has raised over $45,000 for Rock County Veterans Services, just north of $2,000 for The Academy’s at-risk youth programs, and also several hundred dollars for VetsRoll.
About The Badger Chordhawks
The Badger Chordhawks Chorus is an award-winning men’s vocal ensemble based in Rock County, Wisconsin. Recognized for artistic excellence, innovation, and community engagement, our growing list of honors includes a Commendation from Governor Tony Evers, concurrent Proclamations from the cities of Janesville, Milton, Beloit, Evansville, and Edgerton, dual titles of Division One’s Most Improved Chorus and Plateau AA Champions from the Barbershop Harmony Society Competition, five consecutive Gold Seals of Transparency from Candid’s Guidestar, and a Finalist for Janesville’s “Best of the Best” Awards. We produce four major programs every year including:
1. Vocal Scholarship Program. Our Vocal Scholarship program continues to help countless area high school students make music a part of their college studies. Recognizing notable academic achievement, a passion for music, and an intention to pursue this passion in college and beyond, past recipients include our current director, as well as a who's who of other musical professionals. Overall in the past 60+ years, we have awarded tens of thousands of dollars in Vocal Scholarships – including nearly $20,000 in the last five years alone.
2. The St. Paddy's Day Concerts & Irish Pub Crawl is a vibrant celebration of Irish culture and music that doubles as a fundraiser for our Vocal Scholarship Program. Each year, this series of full-length performances and mini-showcases unfolds at carefully selected bars and restaurants throughout Rock County. It is fast becoming a beloved tradition in the community, eagerly anticipated by both locals and visitors alike.
3. The Patriotic Concert.
4. Christmas with the Chordhawks. Our “Christmas with the Chordhawks” show rings in the annual holiday season as the area’s first festive event in December. And it remains our gift to the community – all performances are free and open to the public. We do accept freewill donations at this event, all of which go to fund Vocal Scholarships.
